In Convergence CMs, Gold is <20 minutes. Being able to move fast between the different areas of the map can save several minutes in a run. Learn what items, mounts, and masteries you need to move faster around the map!

Mounts
Mounts in Guild Wars 2 all have unique skills and try to fill a niche role. Once you unlock a mount, it unlocks account wide.
Raptor - Unlock: Owning ANY expansion OR the Guild Wars 2 Starter Pack and being level 10 or above.
- Masteries: Path of Fire
- Combat Mount: NO
As your first mount, the Raptor is a good A to B mount, having an average run speed, and a jump that lets you traverse any smaller gaps with ease. Once you train the masteries, your Raptor will jump further and pull enemies together with Tail Spin. At max mastery, it increases the damage of all the other mounts engage skills.
Springer - Unlock: Path of Fire || End of Dragons || Janthir Wilds || Visions of Eternity

- Combat Mount: NO
The Springer is the second mount you can get in PoF, after Raptor. It can jump high and has a high CC dismount skill. Training the masteries will let the Springer jump higher, have more CC on Cannonball, and reduces it's fall damage. At max mastery, all mounts gain the reduced fall damage.
Sadly, the Springer gets outclassed in both how high it can jump, and how much CC it can do. The Skyscale can scale significantly higher cliffs, and the Warclaw can do significantly more breakbar damage.
Skimmer - Unlock: Path of Fire || Visions of Eternity
- Masteries: Path of Fire & Visions of Eternity
- Combat Mount: YES. Shared CD with Warclaw.
The Skimmer is THE water mount in Guild Wars 2. It's able to cruise above or submarine below and get around quickly. The Skimmer can also float over land but is slower than most other mounts outside of the water.
Upgrading the masteries will let it hover higher, heal allies with Barrel Roll, and swim underwater. Nimble Recovery will give you Protection and Swiftness whenever you're knocked off of your Skimmer. Nimble Benevolence will allow all your mounts to take on the same effect. The final mastery, Skimming the Depths, allows your Skimmer to swim underwater.
Jackal - Unlock: Path of Fire

The Jackal can move by blinking, dissappearing and reappearing a short distance away. Jackals can also use sand portals to teleport larger distances.
Training the Jackal masteries will allow it to use the sand portals, and grant a sand barrier to allies when it pounces. The last mastery, Adroit Evasion, lets all mounts evade attacks when using a movement ability.
While the Jackal is not all that useful outside of PoF, granting evasion on movement abilities for all mounts makes it worth spending the points on the Jackal.
Roller Beetle - Unlock: Path of Fire: Living World Story 4

The roller beetle is a great mount if you have a long distance to cover and relatively flat land to traverse, having the ability to go just as fast as the griffon. The Roller Beetle's biggest weakness is running into objects and losing all of its momentum. If you don't have any energy to get back up to speed, the Roller Beetle is slower than even the turtle. Don't hesitate to use Bond of Vigor to regain your endurance quickly.
Griffon - Unlock: Path of Fire

- Combat Mount: NO
You must complete the entire Path of Fire story to unlock the questline for the Griffon. This quest will take 250 Gold to complete.
The Griffon is your fastest mount, given you have enough height to get up to speed with a dive.
Skyscale - Unlock: Path of Fire: Living World Story 4 || Secrets of the Obscure
- Masteries: Path of Fire: Living World Story 4 & Secrets of the Obscure
- Combat Launch: 3min CD, mount your Skyscale while in combat!
The Skyscale is extremely versatile, having the highest vertical and able to fly. The Skyscale can move upward from a standstill, even higher than the Springer. It can also cling to walls and boost upward, allowing you to scale very high walls with ease.
Siege Turtle - Unlock: End of Dragons
- Masteries: End of Dragons
- Combat Mount: NO
Not particularly useful in convergences, the Turtle can be used to attempt to get people stuck in the walls out.
Warclaw - Unlock: Path of Fire (via WvW) || Janthir Wilds
- Masteries: Janthir Wilds
- Combat Mount: YES. Shared CD with Skimmer
The warclaw is a great mount for rough terrain, as it can just bounce over anything that's not flat. It also has great CC skills, having the ability to put out over 1k breakbar damage in under 10 seconds.
Items
These items will help you move around the map faster.
White Mantle Portal Device Allows you to place a portal once every 30 minutes. Same range as a mesmer or theif portal(5000).
Must defeat Raid Wing 3 to purchase. Purchase from Scholar Glenna inside W3. Also drops rarely from Xera (W3 final boss).
Jade Assistant: Gliding Booster 3 Significantly increases the vertical distance of your Jade Bot Glider Booster skill.
Needs a
Recovered Hover Engine to upgrade.
Drops from EoD Strike missions.Mount Energy Booster 3 Increases Mount Energy Regeneration by 30%.
Needs a
High-Energy Capacitor to upgrade.
Drops from the Kaineng Blackout meta.Prototype Position Rewinder The PPR 'Mark Location' function stores where you are for 30 seconds.
Be careful to not use any teleport/blink type skills(shadowstep, portals, etc...), as it will erase the location.Use the 'Rewind' function to instantly teleport back to the marked location from anywhere on the map. (incurs a loading screen if the distance is over 5000 range).

Masteries
There are several masteries that deal with movement. While they're not all required for convergences, most are used at least once during each run.

Central Tyria Pact Commander - 19 points
Noblesse Oblige Faster reviving of downed players.
This is DISABLED in Challenge Mode content, such as Raids, Strikes, and Convergences.Advanced Logistics Autoloot.
Not having to run around looting every mob is a huge time save.
Heart of Thorns Gliding - 31 points
Glider Basics The basic ability to glide.
Updraft Use Use updrafts with the glider.
Lean Techniques Move forward and back to speedup and slowdown while gliding. Drains endurance.
Stealth Gliding Stealth while gliding by dodging.
Advanced Gliding Gliding doesn't drain endurance. Lean Techniques still do.
Leyline Gliding Ley lines can be rode while gliding.
Itzel Lore - 1 point
Bouncing Mushrooms You can bounce off bouncing mushrooms.
Ancient Magics - 10 points
Spectral Aid While not a movement skill, it's a great skill to use if you're downed. After charging for a few seconds, you deal a large chunk of damage over a large area and hopefully kill a random mob to for you to rez.
Path of Fire Raptor Mount - 10 points
Round up Raptor engage skill now pulls nearby enemys together.
Canyon Jumping Raptor can leap further.
Ravenous Discipline All mounts get increased damage on their engage skill.
Springer Mount - 14 points
Masterful Descent All mounts gain greater fall damage tolerance (not immune, just reduced damage).
Skimmer Mount - 14 points
Nimble Benevolence All mounts get Nimble Recovery. If you get knocked off or engage with a mount, you'll gain swiftness and protection.
Skimming the Depths The Skimmer can now swim underwater.
Jackal Mount - 14 points
Adroit Evasion All mounts gain evasion on movement abilities.
Roller Beetle Mount - 12 points
Big Air Perform tricks in the air to regain endurance. Penalized if you land badly.
Griffon Mount - 12 points
Soaring Rescue You can mount and dismount your griffon midair.
Aerial Prowess You can dive and climb.
Aerial Finesse Flap while diving to get more speed.
Skyscale Mount - 12 points
Air Rescue You can mount and dismount your skyscale midair.
Wall Launch You can launch off a wall, gaining some height.
Crystal Champion - 14 points
Bond of Life You share YOUR hp with your mount. While this makes your mount tankier, if your hp goes to 0, you go down instead of just dismounting.
Bond of Vigor Increases your endurance regen rate significantly for a short time. I use this often to gain more height or speed.
Bond of Faith Lets you launch from your mount a good distance very quickly. It's weakness is you can't really control it while in use.
Ice Brood Saga United Legions Waystation Synchonization - 12 points
Ash Legion Mount Stealth Mounts can now stealth.
End of Dragons Jade Bots - 15 points
Gliding Booster The Jade Bot boosts upward while gliding.
Rescue Protocol The Jade Bot can now help rally you when you are downed. Allowed to equip tier 10 power cores.
Turtle Mount - 20 points total
Sharing is Caring 50% increased health to all mounts.
Secrets of the Obscure Heart of the Obscure Research - 14 points
Updraft Generator Flying mounts can use Updrafts to climb and gain energy.
Ley-Loom Operation Flying mounts can ride ley lines to travel.
Flight Training - 25 points
This line includes the SotO skyscale masteries as well as some general flying ones.
Who Rescues Whom? Mount and dismount midair.
Fireball Skyscale gets a fireball attack.
Wall Spring Allows skyscale to leap off the side of a wall to gain additional air. If you also have the PoF mastery, it's improved.
Enhanced Updrafts Allows flying mounts to use updrafts.
Combat Launch While in combat, launch up and get on skyscale.
Ley-Line Acclimation Flying mounts can ride ley-lines.
Rising Spirits Flying mounts regain endurance upon using an updraft or leyline.
Astral Ward - 20 points
No movement, but you'll want these if you are making an Obsidian legendary armor set.
Obsidian Armor Crafting Legendary armor recipes are purchasable from Lyhr.
Inner Nayos - 16 points
No movement, but gives bonuses related to Convergences.
Sieging Fireball Skyscale's Fireball now does siege damage.
Wizard's Blessing Turning in essence gives Wizard's Blessing.
Wisp Pockets Essence can be gathered even in wisp form.
Essence Attunement Essence can now be stacked to 50. Picking up essence now heals.
Convergence Mastery More rewards from convergences.
Janthir Wilds Warclaw Mount - 20 points
Nine Lives no fall damage while on the warclaw.
Feline Reflexes midair jumping while on the warclaw.
Wild Claws When dashing with the warclaw, if you hit a foe you gain a little endurance at the end of the dash.
Feral Fury Skill 4 and 1 do increased CC.
Well Rested 20% endurance regen for ALL mounts.
Visions of Eternity Skimmer Adaptation - 10 points
Advance Hydrodynamics Unlocks diving underwater.
If you also have Skimming the Depths, increases ground speed and grants 3 seconds of stealth upon entering or exiting water.Castoran Intuition The Skimmer's Barrel Roll skill won't dismount you unless you HOLD the key down.
Also gains an Aetherlocation skill to find treasure underwater.Convergent Evolution Gain Slipstream Boost. Your Skimmer is fast while boosted and will gain height when using Hover High.
Gain Water Jets. Fires projectiles, damaging enemies and healing allies.Riptide Rider Your Skimmer can ride ley lines and updrafts.
Gliding Skills
There are a few gliding skills that can be purchased from Natto. Which skills you can buy depend on which map youre in. He can be found in a few locations:
- The back of Soulkeeper's Airship[&BEsJAAA=] in Bloodstone Fen.
- Xunlai Jade Quarry in Dragon's End.
- To the right of the convergence portal in the Wizard's Tower [&BOgNAAA=].
Gliding skills can only be used in maps with high concentrations of magic.
Focused Magic Shoot a beam at your foe. The farther away they are, the less damage you deal. Requires a target to use.
Unstable Magic Volley Release a volley of unstable magic on the target area, damaging and knocking down foes, and applying a random condition.
Pacified Magical Storm Call down a pacified magical storm on the target area, healing, curing conditions and granting regen in an area.
Dogfight or Flight Evade and heal yourself. This skill is only available in Bloodstone Fen and Lake Doric.
Ride the Ley Line Focus unbound magic and create a ley line to propel yourself forward.
